Free Birth & Postpartum Doula Care for Washington families through Apple Health
Comprehensive Birth Care Regardless of Outcome (Including Pregnancy Loss & Abortion)
It is with joy that I announce I am now accepting Apple Health (WA State Medicaid) clients as of May 10th, 2025!
This FREE doula care offering is available for Washington state families enrolled in Apple Health/Medicaid.
Whether you are currently pregnant, in labor, or recently postpartum, you may be eligible for free doula care.
This care is comprehensive and available for all birth outcomes, including pregnancy loss (miscarriage and abortion). You deserve this care and support.
What does Apple Health (Medicaid) cover?
• One, 2-hour, in-person prenatal intake visit
• Continuous labor and delivery support
• One, 90-minute, postpartum visit
• 18.5 additional hours, up to 365 days after birth, to be used within the prenatal period and or in your postpartum period
Can I still receive doula care if I am already in labor?
YES! You are able to receive labor support even if you did not contract a doula during your pregnancy. If you are eligible for Apple Health, I am able to bill insurance after the fact, meaning I can meet you where you are at - I will handle the administrative work afterwards.
Can I still receive doula care if I already gave birth?
YES! Through Apple Health, you are able to receive postpartum support up to 365 days after birth. This can include daytime and overnight support. If you are within the first year of your postpartum journey and would like additional support, including overnight care, I am here to support you.
Will I receive the same care you typically offer to privately paying clients?
Absolutely. I always offer my clients the same quality customized care, regardless of how I am paid. This work is about witnessing and holding the sacred ceremony of birth - money is never the priority.
Are you eligible for Medicaid but are not yet enrolled in Apple Health?
Per the Washington State Health Care Authority, patients who are not Apple Health clients may apply for health care coverage in one of the following ways:
• Online: Go to Washington Healthplanfinder - select the "Apply Now" button.
For patients age 65 and older or on Medicare, go to Washington Connections select the “Apply Now” button.
• Mobile app: Download the WAPlanfinder app – select “sign in” or “create an account”.
• Phone: Call the Washington Healthplanfinder Customer Support Center at
1-855-923-4633 or 1-855-627-9604 (TTY).
• Paper: By completing an Application for Health Care Coverage (HCA 18-001P) form.

Type only the form number into the Search box (Example: 18-001P).
For patients age 65 and older or on Medicare, complete the Washington Apple Health Application for Aged, Blind, Disabled/Long-Term Services and Support (HCA 18-005) form.
